Lack of Employment: How can we best find that JOB?
From Austrailia to Iceland, Iraq to Toronto, the lack of jobs in the current climate, during these last 2 years will be a discussion that will continue for years to come.
Those of us fortunate ( I use the term loosely here) to have a job may in some instances not even be content ( I can hear the 'how dare you...') with what we have just now! I have seen and met with people of all nationalities who have either given up or are still plodding on looking for that elusive positon, some not even caring what kind of job they find, so far as it can give them MONEY to buy food or pay their rent/mortgage.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, but for those who have even emigrated already (i know about 10 people who have left the UK, in search of greener pastures in mainland Europe or africa), do think that once you have left here(the UK) , your place in the queue is gone.
Some people say if the likes of America are in their worst period of unemployment, then what hope do the rest of us have?? The answer lies in being innovative. Some might argue, what is that all about " I thought innovation had only to do with business and entrepreneurship". Right answer, wrong attitude.
If 'we' as friends regularly network, you will surprise yourself as to how many people you may know ( and I do not mean just Facebook, or Bebo friends!)
Try the following approach:
- Take a piece of paper
write down 10- 20 people/friends that you know ( the more the better)
- contact just 5 of those friends, and ask them to do the same.....
the reason is quite simple. There will be at least 2 -4 of your friends (or their friends) who know people in the following fields:-
Recruitment
Tourism/Travel
Medicine
Ecommerce
Banking & Finance
This list is by no means exhaustive, but will give the individual to talk about creating contacts or even just exchanging details that will help you find that role.
Instead of permanent roles try part-time or contracting. there are loads of sites that are tried and tested ( i know a few too), and they will not ask for money upfront to place you in a role.
One thing to remember though - if you do not help others, no one will help you.
