Heated debate over Ghana's oil future
Judging by the plethora of news articles I've come across regarding Ghana's oil "discovery", there seems to be quite a heated debate as to the future of the industry. Movement A says X and then movement B says Y, totally forgetting that the decision as to how to manage and share the benefits of this potential wealth should not lie in the pockets of a few people but be extracted from popular opinion among the masses!
Is this going to turn into another circus whereby despite all the noise, the wealth will end up getting exported outside Ghana's border rather than staying within to help develop the country? This is not a new phenomenon and there are quite a few nations in the world that suffer this industrial / political rape!
As with all things, the common adage "Time will tell", is probably the only suffice we have.
