A prolific year of lyrical fame and fortune was recently crowned with an Entertainment Express Man of the Year Award for Ayo Balogun a.k.a Wizkid.
In a statement from the publication, it was not a difficult decision to reach due to the teenage singer's giant strides in the musical industry.
"He stands tall with his phenomenal rise, cult-like followership and the soothing melodies of the music of this 21- year-old within the year under review has made our nation forget her woes,"the statement read.
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid, Wizzy or Star boy is the first entertainer to be named person of the year by the paper which prides itself as being the most authoritative voice on Nigerian entertainment.
His most-recent laurel saw him edging out singer Asa, actor Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki), Mo'Hits, Mercy Johnson and the late Lady of Songs, Christy Essien Igbokwe.
The crown prince of EME Records (a label co-owned by R&B crooner, Banky W) first album has become a favourite as tracks like "Don't Dull," "Tease Me," " I Love My Baby"," Wizkid Party" and "Pakurumo" have made him the toast of music lovers within and outside Nigerian shores.
